Foals due 2012

This year we are expecting two foals.

Sarangani Heart of a Rose is in foal to Om El Shadeek (USA) for a late August foal. Om El Shadeek is a son of World Champion Al Lahab and out of Om El Shadeeka, the full sister to Om El Shahmaan.

Eskdale Khamis is in foal to Taralea Justify (iid DE) and due mid-November.  Justify is by WH Justice and out of the GG Magnetism daughter Redwood Lodge Cabreea.

We look forward to the arrival of these two very exciting foals! For more pedigree information and photos, please follow the link to our foals page.

What a ride!

On the 14th & 15th of January we attended the Downs Arabian Club Inc’s annual trail ride at Jangharm Arabians, Ramsay.

Tracey rode Eskdale Double Dare and Fiona Maltry rode Evindra’s Kastanah Gem. Approximately 25 horses and riders participated with the trail travelling along the roads before heading up into the mountains.

Both our horses were very high spirited at the start of the ride and coped very well with the sometimes rough terrain on the mountain side. Our horses and riders all made it back to camp safe and sound.

Pictured are Fiona on Evindra’s Kastanah Gem and Tracey on Eskdale Double Dare preparing to ride out, and a group of riders leaving the farm.

Eskdale Double Dare

We had a successful show at the Top of the Range with Eskdale Double Dare (aka Bob) placing 1st Quarab Gelding and winning Champion Quarab exhibit under judge Tamas Rombauer of Hungary.

A big thank you to Richard Sharman for showing ‘Bob’ to his championship and to Wayne Backhouse for presenting him in the Supreme lineup. Thanks also go to  Isabel Zdora or Fiona Maltry or their work behind the scenes.

Eskdale Madeline Rose

We had success in the purebred and derivative rings at the Top of the Range show. Eskdale Madeline Rose placed 2nd in her age class under judge Tamas Rombauer of Hungary.  As always she trotted up a storm and was a crowd favourite.  She will now take a well deserved holiday from the halter ring.

We have a visitor! Isabel Zdora is visiting us from Germany for a few months.  She is experiencing life on the farm and working with Evindra’s Kastanah Gem under saddle (pictured).

Eskdale Silver Kimberley

1990 - 2011

We are sad to announce the passing of Eskdale Silver Kimberley (Zarhedahn x Ambassadors Silver Destiny)

Kim was the very first purebred Arabian bred at Eskdale. A beautiful filly that grew into a tall and feminine mare.  Kim produced four foals, Eskdale Asjmir (x Bremervale Wisdom), Eskdale Kaliia Bae (x Alii), Eskdale Khamis (x Abu Shaklan and Eskdale Mystify (x Eskdale Espirique) She was an excellent mother and has carried the line of her dam Ambassadors Silver Destiny forward. We have retained her daughter Eskdale Khamis.

Kim will be very sadly missed.

Our last foal of the season is here and it is a very eye-catching chestnut colt by Baranski from Eskdale Silver Limelight. With a blaze, four high whites socks and a belly patch he is hard to miss.
Born on Friday 30 September at 5.30pm, he is the only purebred colt that Limelight has ever produced.
He is pictured new born.

It’s a boy!

Rose of Sarangani has foaled a stunning bay-going-grey colt sired by Baranski.  Born at 8.45pm on Sunday September 18.

He is very similar in type to his full sister Eskdale Madeline Rose. As the only maternal half brother to US champion *Rahere, this colt has very big boots to fill!

He is pictured at approximately 12 hours old.

Panmure Sarah
1982 - 2011
We are sad to announce the passing of Panmure Sarah (Sunshine Bey x Amstel Fire Song)
Sarah came to us later in life and gave us two filly foals, the second of which we have retained.  She was an excellent mother but really found her calling as a nanny after she retired from the broodmare band. She was absolutely invaluable as a companion horse for foals, weanlings and young horses.
Her sweet nature and unique personality will be very sadly missed.
